Listening Party - Burnt Toast and Jam

Lost in the Woods is Burnt Toast and Jam's first release since 1999. This cd was actually released last year, but I forgot where I put it until a friend returned it to me last week. I've been listening to this CD a lot this week, and I thought I'd share a few of the tracks with you.

Returning to your FM dial

Time to dust off a few month's rust, but I'll be returning to the FM airwaves (and on wsuw.org) on March 10 for WSUW's 11th annual fund drive. I'll be stealing back my old time slot on Friday from 6PM - 10PM CST.

I really haven't decided what Phish show to play yet, so I encourage you to make a suggestion.

Taste of Cheese (Wisconsin Exposure 3 of 5)

I'm really late on this post, but you know things happen. Three weeks ago, on a drunken crusade I traveled to Milwaukee and attended eVibe's show at the BBC on North Ave. Recycled Future opened, but definately something wrong with the sound. Vocals were all over, and I hope that wasn't on purpose so my luck definately changed when eVibe took the stage.

I go to Miwaukee a lot. I try to see a show every time I go the city, and I was happy enough that I caught this one. There was something about this band, probably the violin that wanted me to hear more when they were done, but that never happened. I remember they covered a song by Radiohead and I was like wow this is a good cover and I'd like to see more.

eVibe's next show is February 24 at Linneman's Riverwest Inn on 1001 Locust St. I recommend to check them out.

Well, I'm in the middle of a 46 hour work week and I'm looking for a show to attend. I decided to keep it close and on Saturday plan on traveling to see Ill Groove Movement in Madison at UW-Madison's Student Union. Show starts at 9PM.

Heart of Gold: Neil Young Concert Documentary

Johnathon Demme (director of Talking Head's "Stop Making Sense"), has created a documentary about Neil Young's current album Prairie Wind. "Heart of Gold" captures the first live performance of Young's Prairie Wind from the historical Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Young performed two shows at the Ryman with Demme filming both concerts. [On a personal note, never go to Nashville and order a jager-bomb it will cost you $30.75 for three.] This is the first show since Neil Young underwent surgery.

Neil Young: Heart of Gold premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and the film begins playing in a few more cities on Feb. 17.

Different Strokes by Different Folks

Different Strokes by Different Folks is set to release today a day before the Grammy Awards where Sly and The Family Stone will be honored. This album features artists such as WILL.I.AM, Maroon 5, The Roots, Big Boi, John Legend, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Steven Tyler, Robert Randolph, and many more. I'd have to say my pretty satisfied with the collaborations especially Buddy Guy and John Mayer covering "You Can Make It If You Try", and Robert Randolph's steel pedal on "I Want To Take You Higher".
