Take Me to the River

Originally written by Al Green and Hi Records house guitarist Mabon Hodges in 1973. The track first appeared on Al Green Explores Your Mind (The Right Stuff). However, my personal favorite version of "Take Me to the River" was done in 1978 by the Talking Heads. "Take Me to the River" also became a top 40 hit for Talking Heads.

I'll have to agree. Al Green No. 1, Talking Heads No. 1A. Excellent choices all.

Foghat did the song too. Though nowhere near as well as the talking heads did it.

I believe Eva Cassidy's version was even better than Al Green's.
