The Heat Goes On

It all started in 1994 when Phish decided to play a musical costume. Their note by note rendition for the Beatles White Album began a tradition that lasted until 1998. These renditions celebrating and supporting the great works of other musicians were squeezed in between two sets. Halloween shows were a non-stop party with music and contests.

1995 - The Who Quadraphenia
1996 - Talking Heads Remain in Light

Halloween at the Orpheum

Stealin' Strings will begin their Halloween activities tomorrow night at the Orpheum along side The Big Wu and Fat Maw Rooney. I've had the experience of watching all three bands, but most notably Stealin' Strings. Stealin' Strings hails from Cedarburg,WI right next to my hometown so I've seen plenty of shows from their beginning to now.

My latest project with the band has been video taping their sets. This of course is my final school project before I graduate in December and well time is ticking away.

Anyways, tomorrow night is the show at the Orpheum Theatre. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 D.O.S. Show starts at 6:30 so make sure to check it out!

Nomadic Ways

If you haven't seen Lotus yet this is your chance. Nomad, Lotus's first studio album was released in September 2004 off of Harmonized Records. After finishing up their first trip to Japan their US Fall tour started last week at the Electronic Factory in Philadelphia. They will be arriving in the Midwest tonight with their show in Carbondale, IL and circle the Midwest before they head back to the East Coast. They will have two shows in Wisconsin with the first show on the 22nd at Shank Hall in Milwaukee and the second show traveling down I-94 to Madison at the Annex.

One of my new favorite bands, Tea Leaf Green will be opening for Trey Anastasio and his band 70 Volt Parade. During November and December they will begin their four show midwest run. TLG will open shows from November 2 at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis through November 5 at the Taft Theatre. Take it back to the H.O.R.D.E Festival

In 1992, the H.O.R.D.E Festival began when John Popper and Dave Frey decided that they wanted to avoid the club circuit during the summer months. They called on a few bands such as Phish, Black Crowes, Widespread Panic, the Spin Doctors, and Aquarium Rescue Unit. The idea came about after the success of Perry Farrell's Lollapalooza Festival. The first H.O.R.D.E. Festival barely broke even, but most of the bands would stay along for the next few years. The last H.O.R.D.E Festival was in 1999.

My Friend My Friend

After an eventful day on Thursday night, I was determined to make Friday a much more successful night. After waiting in line for about an hour at the DMV I finally got my new drivers license (more importantly my ticket into the bars). I really had no idea what I planned to play on Friday night but I stumbled uponJuly 10, 1994, double checked the setlist and went with it. Overall, Set I was more then I expected and I was quite pleased. My highlights were "My Friend My Friend", and Peaches.

Good Times Bad Times

Sometimes PA problems can be a hassle. Phish found this out during their July 10, 1998 show in Zelestre, Barcelona, Spain. However, after the aborted first set they put on an excellent 2nd set especially when problems arose during Sparkle. During the 2nd set Phish covered Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" which pretty much summed up the entire evening.

Once again I appreciate all the phone calls last night, and I was glad to meet your needs. Here is the request filled setlist that I played last night starting out of course with the 2nd set from July 10, 1998.
